Couldn't stand it anymore... we candled the EEs we set last Sat. Some are way more developed than the others but over all..

1 clear
2 questionable.
8 looking good!!

Yeah!!

OOOO I'm so excited! I can't wait for these babies to hatch! I setup the brooder today.... heheheh Since you got way more BLRWs than you were excepting I don't suppose we could come up with a price for one?

Please keep us all informed! I know I'm dying to know more than most since I'm getting a few of these babies! Thanks!

I seriously feel like crying!!

Bator 1 is totally fine and steady.

Bator 2 is togelled all the way up to #8 (it's a 1588) and it is still barely 99.7 and I have three accurites in there and the temps range from 97.9 to 99.7(the probe in the ww). Average is 98.4. It can't go any higher. I am not sure what to do??? At least all the humidities are the same 42-45%.

And over in the hatcher LG 9200 there is a 4 degree range from indoor/outdoor temp and it is not in WW so the temps should be the same???

Does anyone worry about that metal heat ring? I am so worried one of the chicks will bounce and burn it's little head on it... anyone ever have that happen?

Are 1 and 2 both 1588's? Take one of the thermometers out of bator 1 and see what it reads in bator 2. If it reads the same, call the manufacture tomorrow, get them to send you another and when it arrives, switch the eggs out.

What day are you on in #1 and #2, and how many eggs do you have in each? Maybe you can move the eggs from #2 into number 1 (if you have room) till the new bator gets here.

Chicks that just hatch aren't jumping anywhere. They are flopping around like half drown wet mice. (not that I've ever seen half drown wet mice, but I can imagine)

Oh, keep eggs away from the sides when you move them to the hatcher. and get those pipe cleaners and make those rings to put under the eggs to keep them from being bowled around.

The hatched chicks knock things around like crazy and they have to flop all the way around the perimeter of the bator. I don't know why, they just do, so it's a good idea to keep stuff away from the sides. I leaned my thermometer, that came with the bator, up against the side. BAD IDEA. They had to go behind it for some reason, and that clear plastic it's mounted on really confused them.

Okay, great Idea, I will take accurite #1 out of bator 1 and see what it reads in bator 2. Unfortunately, there is not room in bator 1 for all the eggs in two, but maybe I will put in as many as will fit.

Number one has a staggered hatch (shipping issues) WS are on day 17, Australorps on day 11, and EE on day 8. And Bator 2, all are just starting on day 3 at 5 pm tonight. If temps have been slightly low, but humidity good, I'm wondering if they will just hatch late or if they are ruined???

No, you are ok, lower is much better than higher. But you do need to get it up as soon as you can. there is room around the edges of the bator to put eggs too. Just lay them on there and hand turn them if you need too. But only do that after you find out if you've got a new one coming.

My hatch went on perfectly. Bator performed flawlessly. So I think you got one that has issues. Only problem I had was getting the humidity up on the last few days. I had to fill 2 of the extra troughs. Speckledhen says to take the red plug out of the top then too, because they need more oxygen then.

I am beside myself.... totally freaked out...

Here are the three accurites I was basing my decision on to increase the toggle switches

this is accurite #1 from bator 1 AFTER I moved bator two all the way back down to 4 toggle. When it was at 8 the temp from number was 101.4. I COOKED my eggs

I was gradually increasing one toggle at a time and opening and closing and it was only at 8 for an hour or two but still... I think I really blew it. How can they all be so different???

And these are the two in the hatcher for tomorrow. I know the humidity is high, I will take the wet rag out, but look at the differences in the temps.

The only thing that is keeping me sane at this point is that accurite number one has been holding steady and the eggs are growing from there. So I am pretty sure it is okay. But how can 5 other accurites be wrong???
I have been teary all afternoon. The stress is getting to me!!

I did EXACTLY the same thing you just did....I could have written your post. I toggled all the way up thinking I couldnt get it high enough. I finally wore myself out, and just WAITED. It finally settled out correctly the next day. It did take a full 24 hours to settle out. I have my toggle set at the second to highest one...it came set on 4; I have mine on 7. But its doing fine now. It just takes a while. I have the accurite in the bater, along with a probe thermometer (Timex). And I also take a human thermometer and stick it thru the top vent once a day to make sure the temp is correct, and it has been.

Drives you nuts, doesnt it?
