Hi Kathy

Yup, its cool this morning, they canceled the beach party !!

Low teens and 2' + of snow, but, I knew that was part of the package before I came so no complaints, just have to be careful with my hands not getting frostbite, easy to do for me. Life goes on.

Alas and alack, all I have is the goats and the Icees, and hoping for several more breeds this year. Hardy, homestead breeds.

I got the nicest email yesterday. The word was out that I donate chickens to 4H kids, and these people drove quite a distance to come get some. It is always nice to hear back. Some I never hear from again.

Hi Kathy,
So sorry it has taken me this long to write you! My daughter and I wanted to thank you again for the chickens we got from you last April. They did very well in our Fair this year! The blue Silkie you gave Michaela won best Silkie and Grand Champion! The light Sussex from you won best of breed and best of show overall! I am sad to say that I lost the beautiful rooster and 1 Icelandic pullet to a racoon. We had given him the Icelandic name of Sindri, and he fought well, saving one of his girls. The beautiful blue jersey giant pullet had everyone in awe! She was just about 5 months old, I'm guessing in July, and everyone thought she was older she was so big! I even had the superintendent of the fair try to tell me she just had to be a cockerel because she was so big!! I said, sorry, it's a pullet! Anyway, she's so sweet, can't wait to wow them next year with her! Oh and I LOVE the Delaware! So pretty and sweet!

I am attaching a couple of pics from the fair. The Buttercup we didn't get from you but it has Michaela in the pic!

Thanks again! We'll contact you later to get more chickens! Happy Thanksgiving, Janel

That is really nice Kathy! It is wonderful to get positive feedback. Too bad about the loss to predators. Hate that! Most of the birds I got from you went to 4Her's as well so you are spreading the love far and wide! I am sure glad I did that because as I look out my window I realize had I kept those big, big birds my coop would be busting at the seams. The NH and BR are huge!

I am hoping to get some 4H ers started this year, the cnty fair grounds is just 16 miles south of me, so I want to do a display also of the Icelandics, and maybe some youngsters of a couple other breeds. Its fun to get the youngsters started.

Temps up to 26, still cloudy, but better for working out.
