You all are a morning riot to read !! I have learned finally not to begin reading a post with coffee in my mouth, even so I keep the roll of towels close to hand.
What breed are those pigs Mary? Several come to mind but these are too modern looking for them. The emus are a riot, I am afraid that I would spend my days just watching their antics.
I am cutting my Icelandics down, sending some to Daron, both my SC roosters, and several hens. That leaves me with only one SC a hen, and all the rest crested and with RCs.
Making the trip back to MI Isi got pretty heavily frost bit on his comb in the -24F weather across MT and ND and into MN. SCs arnt for nothern climes without protection. This leaves me with Bjorn , a black rested red wing, RC, and the largest of his heatch, and he is dominant, he and I had to have a meeting of the minds which he sometimes still tests. I also have the chickmunk dark feather legged roo who is developing very well. The bigger white featherlegged rooster goes to Daron where I hope he will have many featherlegged offspring.
The featherlegged rooster I am keeping will be mated with all my hens sometime this year to see what his offspring will be, I am hoping for enhanced feathering in them. We shall see.
Moderate here today, all hens laying nicely under the light and Isi's frostbite is healing.
Life is good and better wih Icelandic Chickens !
