Icelandic Chickens

Cute! That blue pullet should be sent back to Illinois!

They look very sweet. Love that blue one.

I found out tonight just how sassy one of my pullets can get when she wants something and I keep blocking her. I kept shooing her away from some insulation on the garage wall (they're caged most of the day, but they get supervised time out) She started biting at my boots and pants, and then when I picked her up, she bit my lip and broke the skin. She's in timeout for it now. I didn't name her Psycho Summer for nothing.

Ouch!

I need to post a new picture of Drekkette. She is turning the most beautiful shade of pale blue/gold. She is SO friendly. When you open the coop door to check for eggs, she'll walk right up and stand nose to beak with you (coop is elevated, LOL). She has become DH's favorite bird.

What's wrong with this rooster? He never developed a tail and he is roach backed. Is it something that can happen to any breed or just Icelandics?

Here he is with his brother in the background.

I'd love to see her

Wow. I'm not an expert, and I don't really have a guess as to what this is about. It looks like a genetic "oops", maybe? Whenever I've seen roosters in other breeds with a tail shape like that, they hold it more upright. I'm interested to see what others have to say.
