By this time, the eggs should be mostly dark with light in the air sac and at the tip of the egg (for a bit more growing to do)
This is my broody's first time going broody, so I'm not sure how she'll do yet. Thus far, she's been pretty caring with her eggs and very protective. She's fine with me reaching into her carrier and petting her, but when I walked by with one of the roosters, she turned into a screeching raptorAnd she took a few good pecks at the dog, when I first found her setting outside.![]()
Oh, I'm so sorry!Well....I am totally bummed out. I don't like it but that's what happens when you free range. A hawk got my Icelandic pullet and one of the cockerels today. I've never had any issues with the hawks around here before now. The Icee's have been out with the other chickens for about a week now. So frustrating....
