Icelandic Chickens

My son was visiting this weekend and brought a special gift for me, a late Mother's Day gift. His fiancé painted a portrait of Audun from pictures I had given her when they were here last August. I will have to take a picture of it......

Audun is quite a looker! And what an awesome gift from your kids.

Jake, yay! Good luck! I hope you get some good hatches as you build up your flock. I would love to see your dark BB roo

My Icee girls are such brats. Now that they aren't separated, they're laying again. Grrr. I picked up a long torpedo egg from Flekka today, so I'm going to break it open and see if it's fertile.

Here is a picture of the painting. I think it is even more beautiful "in person" and I am looking forward to getting the perfect frame for it.

Thanks Deb, I sure think so and I'll pass that on to Claudia. I'm thrilled to have something that is made with all the care and love I know she puts into her paintings.

Yes, she is (and not just at painting)! This is the first painting of a chicken she has done and I think she should do more.

We are so blessed to have her in our family. They having been dating since college (now 34), so we already have claimed her as family. They still each have their own places but on the visit here, my DS was talking wedding bands so....... There is no date yet but I will be VERY happy when the day comes.

These are the two photos she used to base the painting from. There were some other close-ups and we gathered some feathers for her to take as color references. I think she did an outstanding job. Now to get some good pictures of Anna and Asta...........
