Icelandic Chickens

I live in central Texas, so yes, they traveled farther. i usually get about a 25-30% hatch rate so I am happy with the chicks that hatched. They have beautiful birds so I am hoping that I hatched some pullets.

Andy lives in Fredricksburg and may not be too far from you if you'd like to try eggs that you could pick-up. Google Greater Grace Coffee House and you'll find contact info for him.

Thank you. If I dont get enough pullets I will contact Andy. Fredericksburg is only an hour away so buying from him is definitely an option.

Gemale was a typo but the rooster I kept might be a gemale. He has all the feathers of a rooster but has not crowed at all. We did hear once a strange noise and we thought that was him but haven't heard the noise again. Did not sound like a rooster crow, though. He is 4 months old. He was the only rooster to not bully the females (1 icelandic hen, 2 mixed wyandotes).

It is sad to see no activity here....I hope everyone is just busy.

Each of my two broodies hatched one chick and they are doing well.

Here are a couple of pics I took of the juvies..

When I figure out how to add photos here, Ill post pictures of my chicks.

I live in the San Antonio/ Austin area. I am not sure where Kingsland is at.

I've been dealing with the smoke from this huge fire near us. Today, we have rain!

I just hope it helps put the fire out.

I do have 2 Icelandic juveniles, I've been waiting for a nice, clear day to get some pictures. They are mostly feathered in, but their momma (barnevelder) isn't done mothering them yet.

The summer weather was wonderful, for us not so much the garden, this year. The fall has been lovely, so far, also.

Kelly, I'm glad to see you got rain and progress has been made in containing the fire. Stay safe!

The batteries were failing of the camera the other evening when taking pics of the juvies. I changed them and will try and get some pics of the two new chicks today.

Here are a couple more of the juvies..
