Icelandic Chickens

Can anyone recommend a good breeder/hatchery for Icelandic Chickens? We are getting our first chickens this Spring and my husband is dead set on this breed. We live in MN if that matters at all. We are hoping for a dual purpose breed, friendly (or at least not aggressive), good foragers as they will be free range in a large fenced pasture area with a coop. Thanks so much!

@coldupnorth is in MN and has Icelandics. PM her and she may be able to help you.

Hvit has decided it is a good time to go broody

I tried putting her on the roost at night but she is back on the nest when I go out in the morning. I take her off the nest and she eats but is back on the nest when I return. I think I'll give her three eggs and see what happens. It is WAY too cold but who knows, maybe March will not be too bad......

Oooh they make a lovely pair :) I hope none of my girls go broody until later in the year (if they do) I have a feeling we're going to get a big cold snap in the future, here.

Day 3 on the batch of eggs in the bator. I may have to candle tonight or tomorrow.....
