To Sourland I have 3 strains Lyle Behls,Sigrids,Harder(great grandparents strain)plus 1 I am devloping of my own(combination of thee other 3)!

I think they are pretty but I am selecting for the white egg layers only. I can't find any data that says pure Icelandic chickens lay anything but white or very light cream colored eggs. Sigrid called yesterday and I asked her and she agreed with that. I can't read the documents written in Icelandic so my resources are limited. I am anxiously awaiting Sigrid putting her knowledge about the Icelandic chickens on paper.

Helloooooooooooo Mary and Sigrid !
Today I had to move some eggs out of the Sportsman and into the hatcher. I just couldn't stop myself, and had to take a quick peek at the Islandics. They are such beautiful white eggs! I carefully held the high powered light over each egg, without touching or moving them. EVERY SINGLE ONE has veining apparent!

We are off to a great start!

I hardly ever candle, until day 18 when I move them into the hatcher. This time, however, I just had to sneak a peek!
