Jake, Andy here, thanks for your response, and I use a Brinsea, with auto turner, and digital humidity regulator, just set it up, plug it in, add water to the reservoir and eggs to the incubator, wait 21 days and remove chicks! I love it. You will love the Icelandics!

Just read the article on page 129. I actually hadnt heard of the breed before but they're lovely and look very interesting.

Can you provide me some examples? If these are truly different/new to what exists in other chicken breeds commonly kept, I would love to help out with the genetics. I've been doing genetic work in the rat fancy since the 90's and am well known there as one of the go-to people for figuring out genetics of newly discovered traits etc. I'm just seriously getting into chicken genetics as I just got a house with the space to keep enough to breed, but once you understand genetic principals in one species its not too hard to pick up new ones- just a matter of memorising the new variety descriptions and their geneotypes.

Where can I get some eggs?

Thanks for the link, Andy. I notice that Lisa says they have cream colored eggs from their Icelandics. I wonder how that happened. I prefer to keep this line with the white eggs, as Sigrid said they should be white egg layers.

OH MY GOSH ! ! ! I wish you all could have seen what I just saw! These crazy babies (Icelandic chicks) are practically jumping out of the brooder. I just saw one totally go straight up and over the drinking fountain! Like a helicopter does! HONEST ! ! ! I wish I could video that! Once the one did that, then (of course) the others joined in and they were all just flying about in the brooder! These guys just fascinate me!
