Icelandic Chickens

Mary when you put your broodies into the Inn, how do you manage the food and water (room service) ?? I have a crazy broody right now and need some pointers. She is in a similar little hutch thing and I put her own separate waterer and food bowl in there. But when I open her door to change her water or give her food, she bolts out really quick and runs to the coop water and food and downs some really quick and then back to her box. So I am really wondering how manage your girls. Do they get their own water and food in their hutches and never get out or do they get out for a while each day? Not sure what to do with mine.

I have done it both ways with success and disaster. My plan is to keep the Biddy Inn doors shut until most of the morning laying has taken place then open them for food/potty breaks. I do plan to keep a waterer in each side though. I am sure the other girls will still go in there and root around or even lay eggs while the doors are open but that is what I am going to try. I am marking the fat end of the "real" broody eggs with a big X. Good luck, broodies are a blessing and a curse.

I only had to make one trip to Home Depot for the hardware, wood, and the fiberglass paneling. I think that's a personal best for me.
