I have been working outside all day. Thunderstorms now. I am so thankful I was working out there today. I saw a fox. I went inside to grab a drink, went back out, and there he was .... at the fence licking his lips and looking at my babies! I freaked and yelled. Cody (daughter's fiance') was nearby and ran for the gun. He and the neighbor then went hunting. The fox was down by the lake (geese there) behind our house. They missed him, so I am sure he will return.

Oh no Kathy! Not a fox. Hope your babies are ok tomorrow.

My broody plans just went askew. Cara has been antsy since I swapped her dud eggs with wooden ones. I let her out for a break today and she almost didn't come back. I just went down and she was pacing in the nest box so I let her out. If it looks as if she wants back on the nest tonight I will let her otherwise I shall release her from duty.

Kathy, I'm sorry they didn't get the fox but I'm happy you saw it before something happened to your flock. Now you know it's out there and can take precautions.

that it never returns.

Evening folks!!! Mary (NAF) I am happy to report that I still have all three of the Auburn Javas I hatched out, not sure what they are yet! But am sad to report that I have lost some of the Icelandics I hatched, when I transferred them all to a bigger brooder yesterday I did not see any of the ones I banded with green which were the ones from Mary (NAF), I do however still have 7 or 8 of the ones with blue bands that were from Kathy, so I am still in business!!! just thought I would drop in and let yall know that I have been lurking but been limited on time lately and not had time to chat on all my forums. Have a blessed day!!! Lynn
