Icelandic Chickens

Wife and I played the "guess the sex" game with a black Jersey from our 1st batch of chicks. The Chick (notice not mentioning he or she) was picked on so bad that we had to remove The Chick into another pen. The Chick became our 1.5yo DD's favorite and got subsequently called Chicken. We went back and forth if The Chicken is a roo or pullet, even roping in our hatchery friend whom we got The Chicken from. We were at 99% sure The Chicken was a pullet, until this latest photo

Yes, it is much easier to sex someone's birds. From about 2 weeks until 12 weeks it is rough with the obsessing.

So you post pics here and let Kelly tell you they are boys or girls. Then it is on her if she is wrong.

I'm sure she wishes she was in a chocolate induced coma. She had to have a broken wisdom tooth extracted. I talked to her a little while ago and she wasn't feeling too good. Hopefully tomorrow she'll feel better and be able to chat with us.

Still plowing through at page 150+. Mary free ranged her birds and the new coop with the Martha Steward egg roll boxes are awesome. Lots of fresh chicks over New Years!

Thanks everyone. I am high as a kite on Vicodan and still hurting. I am so glad it is over and I survived the general anesthesia. My lung disease makes that tricky but because of the location of the nerve and the hooked roots it was the only way to go, unless I wanted to be left drooling forever.
