i have 4 full grown hens and two roosters right now, but i would like a couple more hens. I had 7 eggs in the incubator but they all died during the last couple days unfourtunatly. I am hopping one of my hens goes broody in the next couple months. That way the chicks will be more easily intergrated. But right now they aren't laying very much.
they have gotten big fast! I'm hoping I get a good roo out of the deal because I'm putting my lavender orp roo down...he is getting aggressive. I don't tolerate that especially around children.

Mimddh Bravo for the hero. Does he have a name ? He should. I have the feeling the older roosters sent him out first because they were to "chicken" to take on a hawk.Bawk, bawk!!

Yesterday, my wife and I were just finishing putting new bedding down for the goats, I hear a commotion outside. I look out the door and this guy is mixing it up with a juvenile red tail hawk. The hawk flew away, I look around, all the hens were under cover, with the other roosters standing guard. I wish one of the older roosters with some nice spurs would have gotten the hawk, but I didn't loose any. Hopefully that hawk learned that chickens aren't the easy meal he expected.
