We can't do the raffle without jumping through a ton of hoops with the lottery commission...
Just not worth the hassle for a one time a year deal... I would be happy to accept any donations of eggs that I can hatch and sell at Chickenstock though!!! We have given away over 400 chicks the past two years to 4h kids to raise... I'm shooting for 300 this year!!
have a late hatch cockeral from Mary Notafarms flock, that is a lookalike to Gunther but with Rose Comb. He is going to be bred to some SC pullets and hens.
Also have a SC grandson of my Isi that is dark mottled, just a bit of red here and there. He is quite personable too, his hatchmate splash SC is a spook, he will go to the freezer pen, there are four now . One is a RC but he managed to get toes mangled in the wire and they never healed back straight, its not genetic but to me its a non keeper.
+10 out this morn, which is 39 degrees warmer then yesterday. Lot of frozen cracked eggs yesterday.
We had a bright, sunshiny day today...........high was only 14F but no snow so all is good.....at least until Wednesday when we are forecast for another 1-3 inches on top of the 4.5 inches we had Saturday night into Sunday.........
Here are a couple of pics from last week, before the latest snowfall.........
Audun and flock in the path to the L P tank.....
Elska.........sporting some missing tail feathers compliments of the randy cockerels.....who now are awaiting a new home......
We had -3 this morn, a big improvement over yesterdays -15. It was snowing when I got up at 6 and still is. Winter is well and hearty here.
My sad news is that I am going to have to rehome my Icelandics. This summer I will be away from them for a couple of months, it cant be gotten around and they need better care then they'd get. Its a health issue, and I dont see it significantly changing, so without going into it thats what is.
All in all there is about 20, with about 5 extra roosters that will probably go to freezer camp soon.
The oldest are 3 coming 4 year olds. And right now they are divided into 3 breeding groups. They are two 3 and 4 yr old roosters, both fertile but housed separately now.
There is NO price for these !
For those interested I also have a GQF Incubator w/turner, a hatcher, and miscl chicken equipment, I will offer these as groups with their equipment including feeders and waterers. There are also 5 water heaters.
I have been trying to think of any other way around this but this is the best solution for all. I think a LOT of my Icelandics and want the best for them.
PM me for any other details, but what I am offering to serious people is a breeding group of Icelandic Chickens , a rooster and hens.

Prayers will be said that your "couple of months away" will be what it takes to return you to good health. I hope you will continue to visit here and keep us updated.
Thanks and to all of the rest of you. I almost cried writing yesterday.
We had -8 this morning, with new snow, so I am at least a week away from being able to do anything. I will have 3 separate groups, 3-4 hens, a couple possible back up roosters. Also have a fair amount of pens and equipment .
I will keep you all updated on things as they go along.
My email is [email protected] if I amnot here every day and anyone needs to contact me on them.
My big goal for the next month or so is to place them into serious homes.
Jake, good luck! When things have settled and your health is doing better, I could always try shipping some eggs to you, if you'd like.
Prepare for a picture dump!
I finally got some good pictures of my silver boy today. I think he is the one I will give to my neighbor. He's old enough now that he's started servicing the hens, and he's quite friendly. I'll be sad to let such a gorgeous boy go.

Reika and Sky, with one of my hens in the background.
And one of my broody minding her babies, Svenson and Hveiti. One cockerel, one pullet. Both from my hen "Psycho".
