Icelandic Chickens

Thanks you guys!  They are sooooo cute with their little crests!  My hatch had mostly crested babies in it.  They are all sweet, but I love the little top knots!  :love

You know, I just realized today that my last hatch had no crests in it. Whaaaat?! That is unusual for my flock.

Thank you, I forgot to mention looking for a Scandinavian restaurant to sell them to. I like to make organic ice cream, so I'm looking forwards to using my own eggs in it. Viking Ice Cream might be a good seller made from the milk of icelandic sheep and icee eggs. Viking Icee Cream Lol

Gasp! Viking ice cream?!? Mmmm :)

Laurie, I totally understand your reasons for needing to downsize. I am not very good at selling my eggs, either, but it's mostly because I never wanted them for money (not saying you did :)) But you need to do what is right for you. I am still very happy with the two hens I have that came from your flock. One of them is my torpedo launcher, hehe :) She is my white girl that came from Svana's egg. Thank you for sharing them with me!

Good morning! I would like you to meet Loki. Loki may or may not have tried to crow twice already. Loki is not yet two weeks of age. Oh, I can tell this isn't going to be dull.....

Loki is a doll, when I enlarged the picture, I thought 'what cute little drumsticks,' Maybe he wasn't trying to crow. Maybe his stomach was growling. Give that boy some breakfast.

Exciting news (at least for me)! When I just went out to shut up the coop, I couldn't find Harpa at first. I found her all settled into a nest box. That's a good sign, right? Not that I need more chicks right now, but I'm pretty stoked!!!

It's a good sign if she is going broody, it's a bad sign if she has decided sleeping in the nest box is better than roosting.
