Well, Cupcake is charming as is her name! I love it!! Turkeyrangler, your babies' feathers will continue to change- nothing is settled yet. It's amazing how different mine look from when they were chicks!!! I started out with so many blondes, and now I have almost nothing but brunettes. Plus, their patterns just keep developing. They are amazing to watch grow. A few updated photos of my Icelandic babies. They were being curious and coming right up to me, so I got a few of their head shots! Lol

The cockerel in the last picture doesn't run, he HOPS! It's crazy. He starts off in a trot, but that soon turns into these massive hops across the yard. It's hilarious to see!!!

O goodness me ,i am sooo very interested in keeping & protecting the Icelandic chicken breed , and I to would like to be part of the very important effort to save the Icelandic chickens. i would like to find some for sale and give them a good home were they can live to old age in peace good health & happiness , if you can tell me were i might fine a few from good protected blood lines , and if you might have any you might part with to a good home , thats me, i can assure you, they will have the best of care &a great home here with me , thank you for any help you can give me in advance , and i hope to hear good news soon , thanks again take care have a great week kindest regards, Dianna

Kathleens please, please shoot a video of your hopping Rooster, I'm sure it would make our day a lot brighter. I've noticed some of the wild birds are only able to hop while others can actually take separate steps. I don't know why it has taken 67 years to realize that.

hi and thank you for your reply, we are in Bisbee AZ a mile hi in the mountains, but soon we are planning to move to our new place in the Coronado national forest mountain area up 8 thousand feet , just south west of here , so we will have many hundreds of acres of pristine forest land with a nice slow running mountain stream for our babies to play in , and so they can live the way their breed develop in Iceland with out the intense cold. just a giant untouched mountain forest .

Wow! That sounds beautiful!!! Do you have an incubator? I am pretty far from AZ, but PM for some eggs when you get settled, if you like hatching!

hi again kathleens1979 gosh, I never tried hatching, but it must be fun, so yes planning on buying some eggs, years ago all my hens raised all their own chicks ,so i was planning on getting a good quality incubator just to keep on hand, then getting a few silkie hens, hoping the silkies, will try to hatch some eggs, since i want all my chicks to have a loving mother hen, but if that plan is not possible then its into the incabator to see what pops out .

Yay! Hope your move goes well, Diannastarr! Hey, guys, does anyone have a problem with your roosters pulling feathers out of hens' heads? I can't say how much I love Hann, but he is being kinda rough in his lovin' lately. My poor Hetta is missing a lot of her cute crest because he has pulled or broken a lot of the feathers. Any suggestions? My non-crested hens are looking kinda bald too... It's a problem for him. He needs too much steadying or something when he jumps on them. Lol!
