Sorry I haven't posted. My hatch of 10 Icelandic eggs started yesterday and continues today. I think my temp were a little low 99-99.5 so the hatch is somewhat late. So far I have 7 hatched, with another one pipped and two do nothing. Hopefully I have 80 percent. Better than I hoped. Will have some pics tomorrow. Have a couple very dark chicks. One with black feet. Very cool.
Hello! I grew up in the UP of Michigan. Best place on earth.![]()

Kathleen, If set before noon, count set day as day one. If set after noon, start with the following day as day one.Redlll- pretty chickies! I love the red and gold chicks! Hetta is a goldy and I have a new cockerel that looks just like her. Mine will jump up onto my lap if I sit on the ground long enough. I came outside one day to find my DH with about five perching on him in different places, sitting still as a statue so they wouldn't all run away screaming. It was pretty funny!!!
Cheqchicks- welcome!!! Icees are the best! I'm in Central IL, so not too far away!
Turkeyrangler- fingers crossed for your hatch. Please post some baby pics when it's all over!![]()

Ok, guys- Behl eggs and Sigrid eggs go into lockdown today. Keep fingers crossed for me. I have eight under a broody, so it should be interesting to compare hatch rates. Nervous chicken mom here, though!![]()
Just to check my math- I set them on a Friday. That means day 21 is Thursday which means day 18 is today, right??? Can't ever decide if I should count the day I set them as day 1 or not... #chickenproblems... Lol!![]()
One of mine from a hatch three weeks ago that started out completely yellow is now basically black with bronze highlights. Never had any chickens like this before. Lots of fun.I love the yellow ones with the darker color mohawk stripes!
