Just popping in to say hello.
All is well here at Camelot. The 2 lil ones are growing like weeds. Will get some updated pics soon. Its been so hot no one goes out unless they have to and then we all hurry back to the AC.
Buri has surpasses Jokul in size. His colors have intensified and he is gorgeous.
Glad to see everyone here is doing well.

Just had to make sure. I always research my resorts before buying plane tickets. Coop Hilton is ready for reservations then, I assume!

Greetings All!
I'm not very happy with my boys. They've been acting out the last two days and I'm getting a little perturbed...
Yesterday, Audun and Ari, who have been sharing a 2 x 3 crate at night while free ranging during the day, decided to have a show down when going to roost last night. Audun really pinned Ari and wasn't letting him up. I broke them up and they went right back at it so I opened the crate and Ari dashed out and I shut the door. I put Audun with the one SLW hen, Sylvie, that squats for him, in the empty mobile coop for last night. He paced the fence until dark. Ari went straight to the roost and I didn't hear a peep outta him. I left Audun and Sylvie in all day but let all the other chickens free range around them. I felt sorry for Sylvie and her other hen buddies who would go up to the wire and visit her. I was watching the dynamics this evening and Ari would grab the young girls and not let go, pulling out feathers and pinching skin. They would scream and try to run. Each time I saw him, I would chase him off, but he doesn't have anyone else to hang with so he kept trying to go by the younger girls. The older hens chase him and the Javas kind of keep to themselves. The young Java roo has his group very well trained and they listen and follow whatever he tells them. They stay at the far end of the yard near the tractor that they live in. Ari is just trying to take Audun's place but he is such a punk about it.
I let Audun and Sylvie out about an hour before dark. Ari kept his distance but Audun kept stalking him. Sylvie went straight to the layer coop and got up on the roost as if to say, leave me alone! I'm going to a family function this weekend and will be gone Friday through Sunday. A friend will be taking care of things and she doesn't need drama from a couple of punk roos!!
Tonight I put them each in a separate crate, we'll see what tomorrow brings..........
They may be solitary for a few days........I'm open to suggestions, this is my first time with multiple roos (or at least multiple roos that weren't going to freezer camp at about the age these are!).
Love my girls though. Little Anna comes running when I call her, peeping the whole way. Asta is still the aloof, sophisticate but comes with Anna and enjoys the treats I always have for the two of them. They willingly come into the barn and hop into their crate or let me pick them up and put them in (Asta a bit more reluctant with this, she'd rather just jump/fly up herself). Sweetie pies those two are!!
Past my bedtime, watching the White Sox on the west coast really messes with my routine. But we won last night

Any news on the house?

We are on the road in our motorhome with my son and his family. My grandson is an ATV racer and we are here in Washington state for a race. Here is a picture of him from yesterday. He is ten years old and holds multiple national championships. This is why I have to touch up my gray roots so often!
He's the punk being interviewed in this picture.
Anyway, I got an email from Sigrid in Iceland and she sent some pictures of Johanna's Icelandic chickens. She said:
Dear Mary:
We went to visit Jóhanna today. She lives by the sea in open country. Her place is lovely and her chickens free-range all day. She has 3 adult roosters and one juvenile and close to 30 hens.

Absolutely beautiful chickens! I would hope to be able to get on the icelandic train some time in the future - I love how ecclectic they are- literal grab bag of genetics.
