Don't lose hope. She is a little high maintenance. She may decide she likes the life of a single girl, unencumbered by needy little chicks...Nah, not gonna' happen. All Lukka's getting from me are wooden eggs. I have to leave room to raise my New Year's babies!

But god willing and the creek don't rise, there will be enough eggs for everybody, even some roo eggs for Kelly!

In fact the first pullet I get from your eggs will be named "Vona" which is Icelandic for "Hope" in English.

I'll be raising Vona! I could make it into a TV show!

I love you Mary!

I love you too Kathy... and you'll have to warn Germaine that I'll be needing her too... the three of you could work in shifts since I'll be up 24/7....

My last hatch before the big New Year's blowout just went on lockdown. All 11 are alive and kicking. They are due to hatch on Thanksgiving but the last two batches have had some hatch a day early so maybe Wednesday. If they all hatch that will give me 29 babies over the winter!

I put the flat panel heater in the big coop today because I have I have some 6 and 10 week olds in there. I bought three started pullets, a BCM, a Welsummer and a blue AM four weeks ago. They were 6 weeks old at the time. They have been in quarantine and were supposed to stay there until Wednesday. The roof of their pen blew off two nights ago so they got to move in early. Plus I have four 6 week old Icelandic babies that I had to move in the middle of the same night when the driving rain caused some problem with the outdoor brooder and the heat went out. Since the temp is supposed to drop to 22 degrees tomorrow I decided to add the extra heat in the main coop.

Speaking of 22 degrees, we are predicted for SNOW tomorrow! This will be out first snow in the new place. I am not sure the netting over the chicken yard can take a snow load but I guess we'll find out!

I mailed Icelandic eggs to 2 people today, kathyinmo and quailladyofftmyers. I will probably end up with a dozen extra again next week if anyone wants to give them a try. First come, first served. So far I am getting four eggs a day. They better hang in there until I have to ship to Mahonri!

My bed is calling out to me. I am beat from tiling and grouting the bathroom for two days.

Kelly, I ripped out that cabinet and hideous utility sink in the downstairs bathroom, tiled the wall, and put in a new vanity and sink. I have a new steam washer and dryer being delivered Friday. Now it looks like a bathroom with a washer/dryer instead of a laundry room with a toilet!

Later,

Mary

Awesome news Mary... I pray they keep on laying.

This NYDHatch/blowout is going to be awesome! It's good Christmas is in the middle of it to distract me.
