Icelandic Chickens

Mary,

I totally understand. A story from me now!

Seven years ago I began to work on a lifelong dream, to open this Christian Coffeehouse. I used to own three businesses, jog 7 miles every morning, work out at the club five days a week, swim at 11 o clock every night, eat organic, hang out any time I liked..... life was PERFECT!
About a week into remodeling, I quit jogging. About a month later no more working out. About a year later we opened, then there was no going out anymore. Seven years later I have achieved the dream, I am 45 lbs overweight, work 18 hours a day, six days a week, and realize that building anything means maintaining it forever!

And now I have a REAL beard! And

since Christmas my beard turned from black to almost pure white!
One of the young folks that comes here told me three years ago I seemed younger than I was

. Around Christmas the same young person told me "you are looking old"

And last week the SAME young person told me "Mr White you are very very old!"

I couldn't believe it!

The truth is I get tired but I don't feel a day older than 17 and I am soooo enjoying growing old! Now I get to tell stories too! Yep,so we enjoy life, whatever it brings, make the best of it and be happy! Humor does more for me on a daily basis than about anything else I think! ohhhh I forgot coffee, can't leave that out....helps me get started, keeps me going and ensures I finish....thank God for coffee!

Andy, as Mary said, its all in the presentation.

I have been in livestock much longer then most on this list have been alive, and in that over half century I have been in a number of breed clubs, and, never saw something like this created out of thin air so quickly ! And so poorly!

I posted a couple day ago that I thought a breed club was a good idea, some discussion would have been in order, A LOT OF DISCUSSION, rather then off list manipulating.

Andy you put forth a pretty good picture of being a Christian, even the way you say this should be dropped 'in the interest of peace".

What about in the interest of the Icelandic Chicken in North America?

Clouded origins of a club arenot in the spirit that you put forward of living in. THAT isNOT the way that God does things.

Openness is necessary in dealing between people, in all things.

As I posted before, I do believe that Lyl is a great guy, he sure has put the time in with the breed in America. But, this was brought up on this list, who here other then 4-5 people know him, so THEY made the decision to install him as President, when I asked Daria about that she said its an honorary thing and not in the rules yet. What RULES??????

Who made those rules??????

That you were a original mover for this is not the problem, not for me, it is the acting in secret, amongst yourselves to make decisions that affect everyone who is interested in the breed. On WHAT authority did you act? Who authorized you to speak for me or anyone else here?

If, a steering committee had been put together, within the group to make a suggested organization and some intial guiding procedures then, hey GREAT !

That didnt happen. Hocus pocus, in a dark room, is not the way livestock clubs are organized.

This was done badly, very badly. Another thing Andy, you made a point of saying I hadnt been on this thread very long, true, but, Daria a shorter time then I, like how many days? Yet you met with her, and who else off list to put this together, gee, if being around awhile is what counts, why didnt you speak to the rest of us, here on the list?

Just one last thing to say to you Andy, I am Jewish, and Israeli/American, and speak, read and write Hebrew, I find it very wrong and insulting to God for you to use an 'africentric' warping of a Hebrew prayer word in supporting your post. You really should know what the words are that you use.

I am interested in what some of the others who are raising Icelandics think about this.

As I said in my first post on this, I think that this is the proper venue to air this, not offlist between 'key individuals'.

I was in favor of a breed club the other day when I posted on this, I am in no way interested in being a member of this 'club' , why would I? Why would anyone after this beginning?

Jake,

I respect your right to an opinion. You have made yourself clear. You are offended and thats your choice. I meant no offense and certainly make no apology for my afrocentric comment! Thats who I am, and frankly your comments clearly are divisive and have nothing to do with chickens, clubs etc. and are rude. Except concerning Icelandics, I don't wish to continue communicating with you sir about any other topics.

As the originator of this thread, I ask that this issue be dropped or addressed through PMs. I am concerned that the discussion has ventured into subject matter that puts us at risk of having the thread closed, if not deleted entirely. I would hate to see that happen. The club business can be taken care of through emails and the club's website, which is appropriate. The other breeds clubs operate off BYC. I feel bad that this had to happen. I can see it from everyone's perspective but feel it should end here. Please.

Mary

O.K,

I am changing the subject. The topic is My Icelandic rooster is prettier than your Icelandic rooster. Feel free to disagree. (But you'll be wrong)

This is one of my juveniles. He just started crowing today. He is absolutely gorgeous. He has dark blue and purple feathers! I can't even imagine how great he is going to look all grown out. I will try to take better pictures but they are free rage and therefore skittish.

And of course I must share a silly emu picture for the day. In case you're having trouble figuring it out, it's 3 baby emus asleep each with their head stuck through the bars of their enclosure. The two on the left are sharing a spot. Silly little things they are!
