Icelandic Chickens

Yep, we are definitely country girls around here. She ditched the 4" heels, they would have gotten stuck in the mud, but she was out there in her cute Prom mini dress holding back 100 lbs of muddy dog. She did change after she yanked said dog back into the kennel and made sure it was secure. I checked the dress, it doesn't even need dry cleaning. I'm so proud

Well, any girl knows you don't want to risk ruining shoes!

Dresses can be cleaned!

When is the dog's flight outta there?

Sunday the 17th. Ex said he can't be ready before Sunday. I figure, if I can put her on the red eye Saturday night, he can pick her up at 4 am, it will technically be Sunday after all.

Michelle I am so sorry about the loss of your birds. I am crazy worrying over the beasts roaming my property. Sounds like you guys handled it pretty well, heels and all but still it is awful.

Congrats on getting Cheryl's Icelandics. We all love ours. I got your PM but have been too busy today to be online much. My birds came from Sigrid's line and Lyle Behl's. You got them from Cheryl who hatched eggs she got from KathyinMo who got birds and eggs from me. Kelly is the chicken sexer on this thread.

Welcome to the group. If you do end up with more roos than hens just let us know and you can get some eggs and try hatching out some girls.

Mary (The Warden) We used to be Cluckawalla Valley State Prison in honor of my son. But I think we are changing our name to Double M Ranch now that we are in the country with farm animals.

Love the new name Mary! Double M Ranch is perfect!

I am sorry about your chickens, I have lost a bunch like that, now it is strictly SSS unless I know the owners, even then......

You have a beautiful area where you are, I loved it when I visited with A Lincoln. Never knew he was there did you? Now you do.

I am worried about the same thing happening here so my Icelandics will be going into chain link kennels, the others have plywood coops but are in pairs and trios, eventually this winter the Icelandics probably will too unless I move where I have a 'proper' chicken coop. Too many stray dogs around here to trust to regular wire fences. And coyotes and foxes plus coons. My dog is a 6 mos old Bloodhound, she would track a chicken but really wouldnt know what to do with it when she found it, other then watch feathers fly. She learns though what is MINE, so she will get acquainted with the chicks right out of the incubator. That has to be.

That was really fun Cheryl. Why no mention of BYC or did I just miss it? You just helped the chicken movement out a lot by making it look fun and hip. Good for you guys!
