Congrats on getting Cheryl's Icelandics. We all love ours. I got your PM but have been too busy today to be online much. My birds came from Sigrid's line and Lyle Behl's. You got them from Cheryl who hatched eggs she got from KathyinMo who got birds and eggs from me. Kelly is the chicken sexer on this thread.
Welcome to the group. If you do end up with more roos than hens just let us know and you can get some eggs and try hatching out some girls.
Mary (The Warden) We used to be Cluckawalla Valley State Prison in honor of my son. But I think we are changing our name to Double M Ranch now that we are in the country with farm animals.
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. These are beautiful birds. Two of the birds have rosecombs(?) and Cheryl is right--Bird #2 is acting rooish--being more agressive, even with my older (and bigger) Splash Marans they are currently housed with! The straight-comb roo is easy to tell...When will I know for sure?
And while I am asking questions: what is mature for this breed as far as egg-laying and sexual maturity for the boys?
dl, I can only speak for my two pullets. They were hatched (by Mary-The Warden) on May 5th from eggs she got from Marty Favre. I got my first eggs from them Nov. 10 and 11. Six months old. Boys, well they seemed to mature earlier..
