Icelandic Chickens

Beautiful Kathy! My girl that lays the huge eggs laid one a day for the last two days that qualify as jumbo! I candled and they appear to have a single yolk so they are in the carton of hatching eggs shipping out next.

If shipping live birds wasn't so expensive, I think I'd have the perfect idea for Stella. It would be sort of like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. We'd each keep her for two weeks then ship her off to the next person on the list. Newbies wanting hatching eggs would be required to keep her four weeks just to prove they're worthy.

It could work.

Maybe we could do the same thing with Blind Lucy too.

Yes, I am wearing flip flops in the chicken poop, yelling at a blind, and apparently now deaf chicken who then runs smack into a wall.

Just to clarify what is going on here, Lucy is almost completely blind. She follows the sound of my voice. I give table scraps and veggies to the layers in the morning but she can't see them so I feed her by hand. She was yelling louder than me and instead of walking towards me she hit the wall!

Well, I've got to figure out what is wrong with my brinsea.

Put the spot check in there again and the temp was way lower.

Last week I had put it up to 99.8 to keep the temp at what I thought was 99.5 with the spot check.

Well tonight I put it in again and it was at 98.6... I had to turn it up to 100.3 to get it to 99.5.

Why me?!

Maybe they'll hatch Sunday?

So sorry Mahonri, exactly what happened to me but I didn't figure it out until I lost a few hatches. You can send it back to Brinsea for re-calibration only if you mailed in your registration card or registered online. Otherwise, there are instructions in the manual to do it. It is really annoying to spend that much for something and still not know what the temp is without a thermometer!
