Beware of kathys icelandics, their silly. When i walk into the pens they all move away from me. Then they turn around and follow me everywhere---silly birds--- Speaking of silly birds i also have a year old emu winch i had scene she was a baby. She is always in your back pocket --big silly bird---

Awesome idea Kathy. Buy an emu and I'll throw in a dozen Icelandic hatching eggs!

I could do something with this in 18 months provided I have at least a pair.

I am sending feathers in for DNA sexing when they are four months old. Mary Catherine Gallegher is just too sweet to be a boy but I need to know for sure. I know they are going to get less friendly as they age but right now they are just amazing. They get so excited every time they see us that they run, do flips, roll-overs, etc. They follow me everywhere and I love it, except when they trash the barn.

Ok... so I sneaked a peak tonight at one of the Icelandic eggs from Mary when I turned them.. There was a dancing spider inside!!

I'll probably succumb to the overwhelming pressure and candle them all on Monday or Tuesday... I wonder if my others will be here by then.....

I am in awe of the fast development on the four, wing feathers showing colors, all 4 are showing different color patterns, the two largest chipmunks are lightening up, the 3rd largest is about the same and the little guy might have the most feathers and shows a lof of brown . It looks like 3 different color patterns out of the four. In just 4 days ! Really fast development from previous chicks I have had. Eating very well, they are on Turkey starter, 30% protein, I believe that I will keep them all on that, I am probably going to move the first four out of totes to heavy wire dog crates, with their lamp, and shavings etc.

I have S&R training both today and tomorrow, so the new hatchers are on their own, til tonight, today is day 20 for them, no pips yet. 100 F and 65% humidity, all copasetic.

I am getting emu curiosity, really ! I will be waiting to see how they progress in temperament etc. Gonna be watching them for their development

The next set is going to hatch in the incubator, has a fan, and holds temperature within a degree , will just shut off the turner and put the eggs in cartens. That will be next friday.

By then the first four are probably going to be crowing and looking for nest boxes !

Mary, take care of yourself, you are the Godmother to all our Icelandic wonders
