I just figured out that I have 5 Icelandics! Last night I was cleaning out the incubator and was counting the eggs. I then realized that I only had four Icelandic eggs instead of five. So thats what that little black chick is! Hoping for a pullet as out of my other four only one is a female.

Well shoot Mary, you got it made then, what breeds of goats do you have now??

I am partial to Saanen. But also like the Nubians. The Nubians especially for making Feta cheese. I may get several ,in about a year.

Got the floor in on the chicken house rebuild, got more work to do, will have it tight and ready by next weekend, complete with windows and lights and the run outside. Temps up to 80 today, and humid, feels great, last week we had nights with frost, actuallu did monday and tuseday this week too.

Honest to Pete, these broodies are driving me nuts! I tossed the black Jersey Giant out! I put her back in the pen. She hatched 2 chicks and promptly killed them. One of them she literally tore to shreds. I took the other eggs and put them in the bator. The BCMarans mama is very content with about 15 chicks, which includes 3 Icelandics. The Silkie mama has 11 (or 13?) new Silkie babes. One chick insists on swimming in the water fountain. I keep taking it out and it goes right back in. I dunno, maybe she likes clean feet. If you look carefully, you can see a little yellow head under mama Marans. That is one of the Icelandics. The one with eyeliner on the right is another.
