I spoke with Mary last night and she is upset but okay. One of the donkeys had stomped the little emu and she thinks he had a broken neck. From the way she described it, it sounded really bad. He couldn't keep food/water down. I know she made the right choice putting him down.

She says she'll be back when she's feeling better.

I am pretty sure I have a pea combed roo, and am going to be looking hard for several with feathered shanks, thats got to be a help up here.

That said, I am thinking those single combed ones must have thicker ones with better circulation that the gene survived all of those winters.

This is one fascinating breed !

Its one we all have to face sooner or later and sometimes oftener. Mary made the right one.

Laree, the Alohas? I was talking about the Icelandics , but I used to know what was required by the SOP to be recognized as a breed, but there are a LOT of breeds which arnt in the standard, ie the Icelandics and many other breeds in other places.
