Regarding the hatch for Jake.

Five chicks are out. One is questionable. It has a large amount of unabsorbed yolk and is cemented with dried goo. It is not in the is picture. There are at least six more pips right now!

Thanks Kathy. I am going back down to check for new hatchlings. I am doing a calendar of all the Diana photos as the Dollarstore Diva. Mostly doing it to horrify my granddaughters.

Hatch Update:

10 are out, two are zipping, 7 are pipped. Lost one chick that pipped through a blood vessel and bled out. Lots of colors. Pictures later when I can open the incubator. I moved some of the pipped eggs to Kelly's incubator so they would have more room.

Kathy, I have a question for you. Lukka's baby is 6 weeks old today. He is by himself all day but sleeps beside Lukka on the floor at night. I have a shipping box with four compartments. Do you think it would be safe to ship him at this age? I know I have gotten started birds younger than him. I would like to save Jake some shipping and put him in with the others shipping out tomorrow. I think in terms of not needing Mama, he is fine. I am just worried about him getting too cold or not having food or water. Any advice?

UPDATE: 12 are out. Had a temp spike in the Hovabotor. I think I bumped the screw for the wafer accidentally when moving the humidity pump. I took the unhatched eggs out and put them back in the Brinsea and just left the chicks in with the lid ajar until the temp came back down. I think I caught it in time.

14 are out and a couple more zipping. There are about five more that are pipped and have not progressed from this morning.

Sounds great so far Mary, much lighter overal then this crew so far, will make a very nice diversity.

The little guy sure looks like Isi, like Dad like Son.

my youngest latest Chipmunk had a lot of nasty stuff on it, but has come on to be one of the beauties for sure. Cant tell if it is he or she, I was thinking a she but now showing more comb then I am comfortable with. The white chick looks like it may be building some shading on the neck, its a roo as is the dark chick, black with white trim, the white chest has darkened to just a very few white feathers among the black, and several white feathers among the black primaries, Skjotur is a dark crested roo with what is looking like a red cape. All of them are showing some real beauty amongst them. Probably tomorow eve or wed morn early these go out to the chicken house. A new big world for them.
