I can see #17. It is out. Weird one, this one! It zipped all the way around the egg, but then came out only half of it. The other half is still attached. It is a light colored chick with dark spot on the head. Might be buff colored.

Icelandics are good with winter.. how are they with heat.. Im looking to add white egg layers to my little flock.. the heat is bad this year.. hot much earlier than normal..

thanks )O(

Kathy that sure is a LOT of variety ! But I didnt see any feathered legs yet, thats a trait I am watching for, got a maybe here so far on one, a fair percentage of crests which I also want, any extra feathering that fits and wears well.

I am really surprised that in chickens from Iceland there isnt a higher percentage of feathered legs.

I finally figured out why the 'earth coloreds' have so much gold and red to them, its a Volcanic Island !!

It darkened here and looked like rain so I went out to the chicken house to put them in and bless their little hearts they had all gone in !

Gotta love'm !

#17 and #18 are in the "recovery room," bator, to dry and fluff. One light chipmunk and a blonde.

This is a huge variety batch, for sure! I love all the variation. Like a smorgasbord! I haven't noticed any feathered legs yet, though I have not checked closely. Still waiting on the silvery blue to make an appearance.

#12 has to be a boy - he's got wattles already!

They are adorable Kathy, Congrats!

pinkwindsong.......I too was concerned about them in the heat. We can get to 115 here in the summer. I purposely waited on getting some Icelandics to see how Mary's did through the summer first. They seem to deal with the heat well.
