I hope the rest will do ok.

Adorable Kathy!!!! Sorry you had a rough night with power outages. It seems like we are getting our spring weather now that it is summer.

What would you do?

It is very hot today, up to possibly 100 degrees. I have Tiny Dancer and another chick, both three weeks old today in a brooder in the barn. They have not had heat during the day but I have been turning a heat lamp on at night. Tonight the lowest it is going to get is 65 degrees but that is just for an hour or two, otherwise it is between 70 and 80 all night. I hate to roast them but I don't want them to chill either. I have the heat bulb, which is just a 75 watt red heat lamp on a dimmer. I was thinking about just maybe turning it on a little bit so they could get right under it if they get cold. Does that sound reasonable or am I risking chilling them too much?

Thanks for any input.

Mary

Mary, Dimming the heat lamp sounds like a good compromise. They could get some heat if they need it but not roasting them. It will be Kelly's fault
