Icelandic Chickens

They love water! They come up to the gate by the house so I can squirt them with a hose. They loved getting in the pond but we can't do that anymore since they could end up on the side with jack!

Hi Chicken Coach,
welcome-byc.gif

where in Arkansas ? One of my favorite places, I used to live in SW Mo.

Great places to live.

Mary the emus are sounding better and better, for comic relief alone they are worth having !

We are having a beautiful soft rain right now, needed.

After a near month of rebuilding a smokehouse into a chicken house with larger covered run I am now looking for another place, after signing a lease w/option the owner shows up the other day with a new restriction: no other livestock !!

I thought about it a day and then told him as far as I am concerned he voided the lease, I am here til I find another place, pocketed the rest of the security deposit for the chicken house, and will probably be here into sept as I harvest the garden, I wanted to get my corn seed renewed, I hadnt planted it for several years, its a VERY old strain I have had some years now, so thats why I havent been on here much the past few days. My attorney said if I wanted to be nasty and legal I could sue for moving costs in and out. I wont, but its an ax over him to insure his best behavior.

Life goes on, good to read of whats happening with you all while sorting through this

Kathy, I know you must be working........but......we need an update!!

Mary, The emus are too cute!! I have a trough just like that for my musovies.

Welcome, Chicken Coach!

Forecast for us the next few days is for lows in the 50s and highs around 70...........very good "working out in the yard" weather but kind of strange for the third week of June! I'll be breaking my vow of no more hatching in the incubator. I've got a dozen of Anna's eggs from the last two weeks and will be putting them in today. Can't hurt to try the older ones............has anyone else had success with eggs 10 days to two weeks old?

That's it. 31 chicks. No more new ones. Hey, I am thrilled with these!
I am dancing the jig, knowing I will have crests here! YEE HAW ! ! !

That's a fifty percent hatch rate on the fertile eggs!

31 of 49 = 61%
More should have hatched. I opened only a couple eggs, and they were ready. I am just sure the chill for over 5 hours did them in.

So I guess at this point we need to start doing the crested pullet dance!
