Well, Jake.. all this talk of crests had me looking... and out of the 6 oldest ones.. I have one crested from the chicks that I got from Kathy.. From the newest ones from Mary that are almost 5 weeks old.. I have one crest... I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post.. so that's only 2 crests out of 14.. They are sure a friendly lot though.. can't hardly keep them in the nella brooder when I feed them.. They'll be going to the grow out pen this week sometime. The older ones will be moving out to a coop on the farm.. I'll take pictures of everyone when they are moved and post them.. I know I have a couple of roos for sure out of the older six.. both of the chicks I hatched from Mary's shipped eggs that were scrambled. I think the 4 from Kathy are all pullets though.. YEA!! The one little roo is going to be a looker though.. I'll check on feathered legs when they all get moved but I think I only have 2 or 3 of them too..

Sure wish we had been able to build our home out on the 10 acres this summer as we had hoped... Maybe next year if things go well. Not being fully employed for a year has postponed a lot of plans.. We'll get there though!!

So I DON'T have job.

My recruiter called late Saturday night, and said the CEO told my boss he didn't want to pay for a heavy(ier) hitter.

Overqualified. It exists.

I would hire you to be the accountant for the Buck 'N Run Ranch if we didn't just sell hatching eggs! You wouldn't be overqualified here!

Last night all the chickens were settling into the coop. Tiny Dancer and the little blonde roo, now almost six weeks old were running around like crazy looking for a place to sleep (hide). They went to the corner with with Lukka and her babies. She lifted her wings and they dashed under! When I checked later they were all sleeping under Momma. They were still with her when I opened the coop this morning but went their separate way once they got outside. Her capacity for loving babies is amazing. Here is Tiny Dancer lurking near Lukka and the babies yesterday. Look how much bigger they are. They hatched the day I shipped Jake's chicks out!
