Icelandic Chickens

Isi is still the main man. When Kelly was here a couple of days ago he was chasing Little Man around. And poor Little man is going through juvenile molt and lost all his gorgeous tail feathers. He's a pitiful sight. I think I am going to have some beautiful replacement roos coming up. It will be fun watching them grow out.

By the way Kathy, feel free to share the CPR techniques from my video with the folks at work. I think getting head butted from behind would jump start my heart!

I am pretty sure those chest compressions were a little weak though.

Well this particular ledge is directly over my head when I enter the coop. Ain't happenin'! Getting boarded up first thing in the morning!

Snow still sleeps alone. She sleeps on top of chicken wire that she has folded down over top of a 2x4. The other 3 (Sunna, Brita, and Kola) prefer the 2x4 looking down at the others in the pen. I move Snow every night, and it does no good. She persists. Higher is better.

This morning it was the neatest sight, as I opened the pen. The Icelandics all FLEW (together) out and into the timber. Some are better at long distances than others, but it was just so cool to watch them. They go a long way before landing, too!

Thanks for the pictures!! Sorry you had to make the extra trip to the barn, but good thing you discovered the "drop zone" over the door!! I have an old clear shower curtain stapled over my double sliding door for just that reason!!
