Me too! I was just reading about it. I sent her a PM a couple of days ago but she hasn't responded. probably can't drag herself out of that beautiful chicken barn!

I HOPE that is the case!

We had a haboob last week, in fact. My chickies are in the big rolly brooder. During super windy storms, I bring them in the garage, because the EcoGlow doesn't work through the gusts of wind like a big ol heat lamp does.

I do put the Ecoglow in a box top filled with shavings and hay. The chicks tunnel under the heat so they are encamped in a little dugout. Still, I worry about the wind.

There are a LOT of mountains between Michelle and that storm, folks at Nome and the Seward Peninsula are going to get it really bad, I have some sleddog friends out there that I am concerned about. No way to get aid to them , at all. All the folks out there can do is to hunker down.

Mary I dont know what the bulbs I have are, have red and white, debating on the white for the Icelandics in the shed. I will check out the Premiers. I was thinking of putting the shed one above the roosts. The water has a heater under it, so far its great.

In the house brooder will have a 200 watt bulb, its usually from 58 in the morn to low 70s in the day.

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens and Pack Goats !

It is the premier housing that is so good and the electric cord is super heavy duty. I have one on hand for really super cold days in the Icelandic coop but have never used it. yes, the brooder was an old reptile cage i found on Craigslist. It has sliding glass doors, overhead heat lamp bulb, and a fluorescent bulb all prewired. I replace one of the glass doors during the summer with one I made out of fiberboard and hardware cloth. It also has built in ventilation. I love it! I just add the low heat lamps for babies. I find it gets too warm with one overhead big bulb.

Good idea about the Ecoglow in a box of shavings Laree.

Post Office just called. My pair of cream Legbars just arrived so i need to go pick them up!

Thank You
Karen B

The roo in the 4th picture has the darkest legs, still yellow, but with some gray/brown. I will be getting 3 more roos and a pullet soon from the same lady that I got the others from, but couldn't catch. I will let you know what color their legs are.

Back from the post office. I made a serious tactical error by stopping by the DMV first to pick up a replacement my disabled placard which had expired. Due to budget problems, they were not mailed in June to people with changes of address. I get my number, wait in line an hour and 22 minutes. They call the guy one number ahead of me to pick up a temporary license pending the outcome of 2 DUI's. The main DMV computer system goes out! They suspend service and tell us to go home and call for an appointment, next available is 4 weeks out, or wait until the computer is back online, unknown number of hours, or put our paperwork in the Drop-off box to be processed on December 3rd at the earliest. I opted for the latter. Yikes!

Across the street to the PO for the cream legbars. Ring the buzzer until my finger was practically bleeding. Finally open the employees only door and go on in and track someone down! Got my babies and brought them home.
They are four weeks old and arrived in fine condition.

They are getting settled in quarantine with the older pair. I will move them all to the layer yard in 30 days.

Yikes my neighbor just lit a huge burn pile. This is the view from my window. Going upstairs to put my oxygen on before the chest pain starts.

Mary, I have to laugh

. THAT is NOT a burn pile, that's a smoke pile. I'll take a picture of a burn pile next time DH burns - you'd be dialing the Fire Department I'm sure.

Manzanita burns REALLY well.

Love the pullet you picked up - she's gorgeous! Nice crest too!
