I will just have to see how it plays out on the leg feathered genetics. And I will be watching my others like they are under a microscope for any feathers on the legs.

I got a nice big Great Dane sized heavy wire crate now, will wrap it in plastic and put on a table next to the puter with its own heat lamp for the new youngsters so they can look out through the winter at their world to be, and still enjoy indoors life til spring.

Maybe I'll make a place for the cats and kittens to lay next to them on one end to keep them company, they did with all of the others when they were little and then lay among them when they were out ranging . I never saw any prey attraction even though I saw them take mice, snakes, and other critters. I think they saw them as family. The kittens are 4 weeks old tonight, at the moment both are dozing on my foot, in the mocasin.

If the rain/snow mix allows me I will be starting the roofing on the new Icelandic home as I can, I want to get them into their new home, maybe more light will give me some eggs through the winter.

Do you have any help Jake or are you working solo? I would have had to make fast friends with a few neighbors with power tools and time on their hands. Then they would have to be O.K. with doing the work while I sat inside in the warm cabin watching from the window. Everyone needs friends like that! I know you'll be posting pics soon too. I am not in touch with reality this morning. No coffee.

Nice Kathy!

The other baby is pipped and looks like it is just starting to zip.

I hope it hatches successfully so the other one will have a buddy besides Lukka. She's a little intense!

That is nice Kathy, and thoughtful of you.

I had my neighbors young teen son a few afternoons but I am doing it myself now, others are getting ready for winter. It will be. I will have plenty of time for coffee breaks as needed. 24 out now, waiting for 10am to warm up a tad.

Morning without coffee is a bummer, my first of the day is with honey and cinnamon, gets me off to the right path, my main sugar of the day.

Hoping for the new zipper to be as bright and shiny as the last !

Dang Brinsea Incubators! I set 48 eggs on Monday, 24 in each Brinsea. Just candled. 13/24 in the Brinsea Eco are developing, zero in the Brinsea Advance! I guess the temp is off again which probably explains the last hatch as well. Except it wasn't so obvious because I move those between the two so that each would have the advantage of the humidity pump. I didn't move the eggs, just the incubator tops.

So I cranked it up to 102.8 from 101.9 and I'll see what happens. My SpotCheck has a dead battery and I cannot fr the life of me find a replacement in Auburn. OK, end of rant, gotta go to Sacramento.

I have a friend in California who breeds raptors, Aplomado Falcons, Ornatus Eagles, valuable birds. He lost over $5,000 value of eggs in the most expensive Brinsea unit, the thermostat stuck and cooked them all. He had a lawsuit against Brinsea, they refused to pay for the value of the chicks, and sent him a replacement unit. He never used it, had a custom one built.

They got far more negative advertising out of the incident then if they had paid the damages. Way more from other raptor breeders who didnt buy their units or replaced them. Wasnt a huge amount in their total sales, but the advertising among exotic bird breeders did cut their sales.

I will stick with the GQF incubators, but replaced the thermometers. And going double per unit besides. And watching them very carefully.
