Lyle Behl was the second to import Icelandic hatching eggs. Sigrid had them for years before he even made the trip to Iceland. Not that it matters.

this is interesting. do they chickens go back into the "correct" coop? or do you have put them in the one you want them in? or does it even matter? of course, assuming they range.

I'm tellin' you, she's a freaking TANK! She's larger (but not as fluffy) as my English Orps. I have to get another picture of her that shows her size well. She's WAY bigger than either of my Marans were.

R U Kidding?????????
Bigger than an English Orp???????????
I gotta see that!

Picture #2, second bird from left top - she's almost idential to mine, which is a mutt.

So, I'm thinking those Vikings must have taken some Poland or other crested birds with them which created this wonderful landrace chicken. Mine are only mutts, but they look similar and right now, it's what I can afford!

Beautiful quilts, the way Gramma made them= tied.
I make quilts myself, when I am not painting watercolor......beautiful!!!!!
It is something that also needs to be carried on in our world!

Thats what I thought I remembered Sheriff! I wasn't going to argue the point as she seemed to be sure she had the right story!lol. Anyway she went on to say that they had a lot of fertility problems with birds from that line!It was all I could say to keep from saying ha ta ha ta ha ta !lol
Chickenlady I tie a few of the ones I want to keep, buyers usually want the "hand quilted" ones! Its a family tradition for me,my mom amd two of my sisters quilt so since I needed something to keep me busy when sitting still I decided to do it. I love it but am just slow at it.
Totalcolor I have two that have nice poms,I hope they pass on I really like the looks of them!

eggdd no they don't always want to go to the same pen! I only let one out at a time because I need to keep the blood lines straight.
