I'm still trying to get the tears out of my eyes.

Off to dust the bators off and make certain the spot check is working. goodness.

Some folks are just too kind.

Details later.

Glad that you are back.

Gonna be lots of eve scrambled eggs for the Fab Feathered Three !! I have a good sized bag of turkey starter here for them, a bit more protein then the chicken starter.

Life is good and better with Icelandic Chickens !!

It's a crummy, cloudy, windy and rainy day here.......I took some stale hamburger buns out to the flock to get a Kella pic of the week. Here she is getting her share with (left to right behind her) Branda, Anna, Audun and Kleo.

All beautiful, and for sure I have to save one or two like Anna this year, I miss not having any. If, all goes well this time next year I hope to have about 20 pullets and hens, and probably 5 roosters. That will give me just a nice sized flock to work with.

Of the 3 eggs this morn they were almost all the same size, all were a small medium. Pretty good for no ranging. I do need to get them some greens though. I have been giving them daily a bit of alfalfa which they clean right up. I am thinking about sprouting some grass seed or oats for them.

Very pretty Mary! Mine will so anything for stale bread too!

Jake, my stock tank for the donkeys and chicken waterers were frozen over this morning and I had to break them up with a broom handle! The small automatic waterers and hoses had to have hot water poured over them to get them working again. It was COLD! Did you guys send it down our way? I took a chick waterer filled with warm water and put it down beside Lukka and the chicks. She growled at me and tucked her wings in tighter around her babies. When I was five feet away she was clucking to get them to the water.

Now they are all looking for sunny places to lay down, donkeys, goats, emus, and chickens too. Soon to be adding turkeys to that list when Kelly and I get our order of Sweetgrass poults in the Spring!

Happy hatching Mahonri. Hope you won't be in trouble with the wife

I don't think mine froze over, guess I better go check. Been busy helping DH (who HATES all things plumbing) install a new faucet for the kitchen sink. The other one broke (and it's not that old) to the point of a small river coming out my cabinet.

I got the roo back into the coop!

Its the dominant roo, when he went in the coop, he mounted a pullet. I hope that means she will be laying soon!

Toady is day 14 for my emu eggs. Each of the three eggs has lost exactly 3.4 % of their starting weight which I think means they were all fertile and all are developing. I am weighing them every Sunday!
