Icelandic Chickens

Yes I do pack it in triple antibiotic ointment and keep it dressed. Thanks. I'll just carry on and hope that the core came out with the scab. Poor dear. She is such a sweet girl. He hates being kept confined though. I may let her stay in the junkyard coop since it is small and the run is concrete and stays clean. She'll take to that better than the cage. I'll move her in few days.

You do know that if they have bad frostbite you need to get sharp scissors & bleed stop powder, and cut the black off (necrotic tissue) to prevent gangrene seeping through the blood.
I heard a friend had to take all of a Australorp's comb off, and had to use a soldering iron to stop the bleeding.
I have never had to cut that much off, but had to take all points off a Barred Rock Cock one bad winter where it was -30 and was about 0 in the coop, and hard to keep at zero even with 2 heat lamps!

Yikes! I did not know that, I have never done that to my birds that lost tips.
