Icelandic Chickens

Uh, I cut two out of a 12 hole carton. I use them in my barn coop on a ledge above my roll out nest boxes. I store the hatching eggs in them after gathering. Two 12 hole cartons wouldn't fit.

Ohhhhh ya! Have you put any in the incubator yet?

My Icelandics are laying pretty well now. The new pullets have begun, I should say.

Today, one of my Icelandics pullets got out, when the gate was opened to the pen beside theirs. THE ROOSTER PEN! Anyway, she sneaked in there right quickly. BAD thing. One of the big boys immediately jumped on her. She is now in one of my Nella brooders for rest and recuperation. Can you guess which pullet this would be, doing this? The white one that I called a brat awhile back.

Re the Fabulous Fathered 3, I am pretty sure that they are all He's !

The larger white one, is making gargling strangling noises that I finally figured out is his version of a crow in answer to Blau, Isi and Bjorn outside.

The news is that the dark one has a very nice Roosters comb working up his head, as big as the middle guy has. He also has the highest crest. So will have two Feather Legged roosters to work with this year.

Well the little tramp!

No Kathy, I haven't incubated any Isbars yet. If I want any more it would only be one or two. I already have 9 pullets and 2 cockerels. That's a pretty small coop and they share it with two Ameraucanas. Kelly is the first of two test hatchers then I will put them on auction. I may throw a couple of Isbar eggs in the incubator one of these days. What I really want is to incubate some more cream legbar eggs. I only have two pair of those. By the way the little pinkish egg with the pointy end came from my New Hampshire. I caught her coming out of the nest box this morning when I was on the phone with Kelly. I went right out and collected the egg which was still warm. So it is my barred rock who isn't laying. My second Blue Copper Marans finally stared laying so I am only waiting on the BR and my legbars. Sadly, the others with legbars are saying they don't lay until 34-36 weeks.

My BR should start laying before Kelly's because I hatched mine on the Easter hatch and the one she has was from the ones you sent me two weeks later. They are all taking their sweet time about it!
