I got an email EVERY time ANYONE posted to the threads I posted in! I was automatically subscribed or something. I read that some others had that "bug" too!

In my earlier post, I mentioned that I obtained Icelandics from Lyle Behl from both his line and Sigrid's line. My plan and intent is to keep the two lines separate. Any thoughts or advice from fellow breeders? Thanks!! Sincerely, Mitch

Mitch,

Once you post pics of both lines, I'm certain you'll get advise.

And probably requests for hatching eggs.

All of mine come from Sigrid's lines through The Sheriff, kathy and The other Mary. (I think) I'd eventually like to add some of Lyle's eye candy to the flock.

We traveled to Illinois from SE TN in Sept. 2011 to obtain some Icelandics from Lyle Behl. We found Lyle to be a very nice gentleman. We purchased Icelandics from the line Lyle imported in 2003. Also, we obtained from Lyle some Icelandics from the line imported by Sigrid. We also purchased a trio of Auburn Javas while in Illinois. We are very excited about the Icelandics and look forward to raising them. I look forward to posting and also welcome any advice, comments, etc. Thanks!! Sincerely, Mitch Kinder - McDonald, Tennessee

and the Icelandic thread Mitch (and Sherra)! I look forward to seeing your pictures. I also had Auburn Java for a bit but gave them up in favor of the Icelandics. A friend of mine now has the AJs and loves them. She has them strictly for a free ranging laying flock. My AJs came from Garfield Farm Museum in LaFox, Illinois, same place Lyle got his. I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

My Icelandics are actually from both lines. My two original roosters are from Sigrid's line (via Mary O'Brien) and my two original hens are from eggs that Mary O'Brien (The Sheriff here on BYC) hatched from Marty Favre. Marty got her flock from Lyle. I knew about the Icelandics being here in Illinois with Lyle but all my originals were shipped to me from California....talk about going the long way around for something! There is a family north of me a bit that has Icelandic sheep from Lyle and they have a trio from his flock. This summer they took 6 pullets and a cockerel from my breedings and one cockerel that I hatched from eggs The Sheriff sent me. They are keeping them separate right and I hope to get some of the eggs from their Behl trio this spring for a broody hen to raise.

I post lots of pics so as you go through this thread, you'll see alot of what I have. Again, welcome, we are so glad to have you.

Seinna (this means "later" in Icelandic, Sigrid was kind enough to translate for me!)),
The Other Mary
