I set 30 Icelandic eggs a few days ago and just candled. Fertility is 70%. That is so weird because the batch before this one was 30% and Kelly's was 30% too. Anyway I will continue to incubate them for a local buyer and see what happens with the next batch.

Mary, I know a lot of people don't put much credence in the effect the phases of the moon have on animals, but there was a full moon on the ninth and fertility is suppose to be greater around a full moon.

I will be collecting eggs for Mahonri, for the Easter Hatchalong, on March 10, 11 & 12 am, the full moon is the 8th. For me it's not the fertility I'm worried about............it's the Postal Service treatment of them once they leave here!!

I can tell the full moon by the way people are driving, and to a lesser extent a new moon. I am not sure if it is the drivers or if it is my reaction to the drivers.

The good thing about collecting during the full moon is that they will not be in the postal service during the full moon.

My Icelandic chicks from the NYD hatch are HILARIOUS. I could see out there and watch them for hours.

Call me superstitious. At this point in time, I'm actually pulling for Alex Smith and the 49ers. They won an unbelievable game yesterday.
