Icelandic Chickens

If I'm not mistaken, SouthernBelle lost her flock to MG a couple years ago. It seems to me she said Oxine(?) was a good weapon against reinfection. I'm going off of memory, which isn't very good these days, but that's what I remember.

I put my beautiful icelandics on lock down tonight. I have been so diligent every step of the way, temp and humidity has remained constant as I used a water wiggler to be certain of the inside of the eggs temp. I got my brooder ready......even though I am sick as a dog and running a temp, I took care of my babies first. ......After sleeping for a couple of hours , I came out to check my eggs.....temp 116! true temp because I used the water wiggler. When I took out my turner, I accidentally left out the temp probe that ran the heater. Being outside, the temp just kept building.....they are all dead. Don't mean to be a downer but you were all so kind and I wanted to let you know.. Please don't offer me more eggs because I don't think I can do this again. Right now I just want to give up on chickens. God Bless

Oh no Joyous! My heart goes out to you, and I am very sorry what had happened to your eggs. Please don't give up on chickens, just give yourselves some time to heal and try again when you feel ready. :hugs

Thank you very much Kathy! :hugs I will give my flock another chance with treatment of Denagard, and have them tested again. How long will the Denagard take affect and make the bird ''clean'', before having them tested again? Where is the best place to get it? Again, thank you so much for taking the time to help me. :)

I have been distracted because tomorrow early is the commintment trial for my metally ill mother, an extremely emotional and painful time........After sleeping for a couple of hours , I came out to check my eggs.....temp 116! true temp because I used the water wiggler. Thanks everyone! I will recover! I was just so excited about he Icelandics, and I can't believe I killed them all! Poor babies! Daron, so sorry you got bad news, I admire you for your tenacious spirit. Someday you will be a highly praised breeder. Mary, so sorry, you trusted me with your eggs and I blew it, I hope you forgive me! I will have to live through your pictures and stories for now, Thanks so much.

Excellent Daron, while I"m sorry for your bad news I'm glad you want to try this. It's unfortunate but an excellent opportunity to learn, if you don't mind keeping us posted.

So sorry for your loss. It is easy to want to give up when you feel so bad but hang in there, things will get better
