Icelandic Chickens

I watched two Icelandic chicks zip and pop the caps off the eggs at the same time!! 1 is very yellow, and the other is chocolaty color, and there are 2 more pipped. e
3 eggs have not pipped yet, but will give them until Wednesday.

I have 5 Icelandic chicks, no signs of pips on the last 2 eggs yet.

Why did I have SIX broodies sitting on eggs when I locked up tonight?

Because you let the other broodies sit and they are jealous?!

I think it's contagious. Maybe THAT'S the reason you are supposed to isolate the broodies, so they don't share the germ, lol

Yes, I'm afraid I'm very discouraged.....one from the replacement eggs....eggtopsy on the other three showed only 1 of the 3 had a chick develop and it quit around day 16 or 17 maybe. The one that hatched is beautiful. The rest of my hatchalong is averaging about the same percentage.....

I've got to work this morning but will be hoping for lots of Icelandics under the broodies when I get home this afternoon!!
