Icelandic Chickens

Kathy, love the chicken on the first mat but, overall love the second mat better because it is easier to read (for people of a certain age). What talent, I'm envious.

Mary - beautiful fuzzy butts. Do the front two yellows look male-ish to you?

Now I need a Xanax!

They are Icelandic's Daron! You never know what you are going to get. I am excited to see what Lukka hatches. The two I have on lockdown has pipped the inner membrane and it peeping like crazy. The other egg which is a lot bigger still has blood in the veins. The little cream legbar egg that I had to wash because it was covered in dried yolk from a broken egg, and then I shoved my thumbnail through it, is doing great! I patched it with packing tape because it had an actual hole instead of a crack. I cut some of the tape away because Kelly didn't think it could zip! These 3 are due to hatch Thursday but I think one Icelandic will be early.

Our turkeys didn't come in today and I am a nervous wreck about it! I hope they get here nice and early in the morning so I can lay some love on them! 16 Sweetgrass were shipped.

I know, but its just very cool to see different colors that a Icelandic pair can throw, unlike say, Buff Orpingtons....

I am waiting for my order of turkeys to come this week too!! Bourbon Reds!

On Sunday, I have culled almost all of my flock. Sold them as meat birds. I have over 300 eggs saved, some of them are Icelandics. But most of the Icelandic eggs are Johanna's, the other two did not lay well. :smack I had initialed the Icelandic eggs to which hen laid them, for I had 1 hen with 1 roo in each pen.
