Lol, that's funny about those bantam cochins, they are super cute!! And that MF/Calico pattern is SOOO pretty, ack!! I really can't stand it! I'm still working on it, I will keep you posted as I need to get things figured out ASAP, also=)

I've been throwing my birds the corn from the garden that is over-ripe, holy moly do they love that stuff!! I'll have to wait a few days before giving them some more, so they don't explode=)

Spent a good part of the day today picking stuff from the garden in prep for the big freeze tonite... time to say good-bye to the garden for the year... It always makes me a little sad, but at the same time it also is a relief, I can now look forward to my winter projects, as soon as the yard is fully tucked in for the winter... My big winter project: the basement... I'm scared, lol, it's become a repository for everything I don't have time to put away... since I had my 3rd baby last year I've had a hard time getting myself organized again, but I feel like I'm getting back on track, so this is the winter to get my basement back, haha!

That is for sure, I don't like the super cold temps we get in the middle of the winter, but at least we usually have decent fall weather, and even decent spring weather, that's why I have to have my winter projexcts to get me through the coldest part of the year....

How often do you give your birds the fodder, Michelle?

BTW.. I'm probably going to have some extra pullets in the spring that will need new homes, we'll see how the laying goes, so if any of you people will be needing a new layer in the spring, let me know, the will all be laying by then, so you'll have an automatic egg-layer=), most likely it will be some of my brown egg layers, but probably a few of my EE's as well...

Right now I'm growing wheat with a handful of black oil sunflower seeds that I got at a feed mill. I haven't noticed any taste preference. Each group gets a flat of fresh fodder at least twice a week.
