Hi JoleneH!! Yes, I met Jill!! Welcome to the crazy world of chickens!! I had them about 20 years ago, I'm sure my parents said yes to keep me off the streets, lol, well it worked, I loved them and I'm so happy to have them again! I don't have any chickens that lay really dark eggs... the darkest one is just a good brown egg, small from my black sex link, she just started laying, so I hope her eggs get a little bigger...

Black copper marans typically lay the darkest eggs.

Yes I did win some eggs & I contacted her told her I'm ready for the eggs, but haven't heard back from her yet.

Hi all, I'm a chicken rookie from Caldwell. I just wanted to pop by and say hi, and pass along a good find. Dunlap Hatchery is selling their 10-11 month old laying hens for $6 each, several different breeds. I picked up a blue polish, a black polish, and a silver laced wyandotte. They posted an ad on Boise Craigslist yesterday if you want to check it out. I don't work for them, or have anything to do with them other than being a customer, just thought it was a good deal for fellow backyard enthusiasts.
