Idaho?

Yeah he does have me trained, but I don't mind, I am just glad he is healing so well after getting "hen pecked" as bad as he did by my hens. He is either going to love it or hate it when I can finally put him in the chicken yard. I have some improvements to do first and then he can be released into his new home. I am going to put up a chicken wire partition and split the yard in half, move the current coop outside of the run and attach it so they can still get into the run. Aragorn (my Cuckoo Maran rooster) and the 4 hens I am going to put him with will have their own half of the yard and their own coop as soon as the partition is up and I get my sister's extra coop. Aragorn still has some healing to do so I have a little bit of time to get it done in.

So wanting to find somebody in the area. that would be willing to work with me and home my 2 Beautiful Bearded Silver Lace Polish's i have a Buff and Gold lace i want to breed them to right now there all about 4 months old and boy oh boy do these boys have good strong crows i'm still keeping them in my garage so my neighbors dont call me in.. SOME BODY PLEASE HELP ME!!! I am willing to pay for food and do exchanges if somebody is willing to help me out by homing them and helping me learn how to hatch for my first time, I also will share my hatchings and can give you some Roaches at times for your flocks let me know :D :D :D

Welcome BackYardChnLvr!!!

Good luck with your quest with the Polish!! Many chicken breeders are kind of paranoid about spreading disease, so unless your flocks originated together, others might be hesitant to do something like that with you, but you never know... good luck!!

Here is the next set of eggs going in the bator tomorrow...

My FBCM started laying and so did one of the Ameracaunas, woohoo!!! In the back carton are the Marans, the green ones will be olive eggers, in the bottom carton, the brown eggs (from my Red Sexlinks) will be easter eggers, the one pure Ameracauna egg, and the other green eggs will be easter eggers, also.. the girls that laid those are leghorn EE's, so we'll see what kind of birds we get from those...

Go chickies!!

Well my 4 new polish's were hatched together and have grown up together in my garage so yes they have originated by the others in my yard no, as some of them are rescue's but the babies arent let loose with them at all.. yeah i kind of figured this would be tuff to find, cause i raised them since they were 3 days old and have grown very attached to them :/ but hopefully i find other fellow polish lovers that would love to help me..

Hey just wondering if any of our chicken friends in SE Idaho also raise dairy goats? We have moved into the country between Idaho Falls and Rexburg and are looking for some good milkers. Any one know of a good contact for us? I am leaning towards a standard breed since we have the space and as a family of six with another on the way, you can imagine how much milk/cheese/yogurt we go through! Thanks for any help or references!

If you have facebook there is a group on there called Idaho Chicken Hobby Hobnobbing, you could try asking on there. I hope you find someone to help you out.

I finally got around to moving the coop outside of the Chicken Yard and boy was that ever a feat in itself, I forgot how heavy that coop was. my ingenius father put makeshift skids under it and we slid it to the spot where I wanted it (even though he didn't want me to move it), gotta love and respect that man. I was frozen and soaked ( it was cold and the ground was absolutely wet from all the snow/ice melt) so I am battling a slight cold, but other than that I feel very accomplished. I have plans for building a partition in the middle of the CY so I have 2 different sides (I knew there was a reason we kept the extra chicken wire), one for the layers and one for my breeding project. I hope to have Aragorn and his ladies in the new area by Valentine's Day

here's to hoping...

I should have taken pictures of the process I went through getting the CY ready for moving the coop, made a temporary partition, picked up hidden dangers that were under the snow (thankfully none of the chickens got impaled by them or ate them), broke Ice (and the hose) to get the front panel of the CY off, played chase the chicken until they were on the other side of the partition (they kept sending "scouts" to patrol the perimeter to find a space to squeeze through, but failed miserably) and then made swiss cheese out of the chicken wire part of the front panel to get the coop up snug to the yard (looks rather nice if I do say so myself). I also put chicken wire on the bottom of the coop so anyone that comes over can view them without having to go into the enclosure(I have already had 2 escapes because of young ones wanting to look at the chickens and try to pet them.

I will take a couple pictures of the finished product when I am out there next and show you guys.

I have goats too! Sold my flock of angoras last year except two. I don't do milkers though. I do packers, which dairy breeds are best for.

I have a cute friendly little doe, Jewel, that didn't get as big is we'd hoped that we're looking for a good home for. We paid $80 for her but would consider what ever it takes to get her where she would be useful to someone. She came from a breeder in McCammon, and is supposed to be Alpine x Boer x Lamancha. She'll be 2 years old this coming April.

Here is Phoebe, one of my alpine does, carrying a picnic lunch for my grandkids...

And here they are all enjoying lunch (we let one of the young goats tag along)...

I'm hoping to find more time to hike with my goats this year!

Here is my huge, sweet boy Dudley (alpine x oberhasli) out for a practice hike...

Digging up these photos makes me anxious for hiking weather!

Here is Phoebe & myself, photo taken by my then 4 yo grandson (trying to find a good photo of Jewel LOL)...

And I now probably have too many photos to add another! LOL
