Idaho?

My Heritage RIR is very disease resistant and very reliable layer, she lays large brown eggs, at least one every day. I think they are way healthier than the hybrids, at least in my experience.

We went to get some last minute items for our chicks being delivered on the 20th and ran into some EE's. :D So we have 3 EE's 2 weeks old from Cal Ranch. They get theirs from Dunlap or Welps so am pleased to see what kind of chicks they have. :D
I dont know if their color makes a difference in egg color but we got three as different as possible.

They're so cute! I do the same thing everytime I go there. I go in to Cal Ranch for dog food, leave with a chick haha

Kalalyn ended up buying me four Easter Egger pullets from La Casa. It's hard to pick a favorite because they're all so friendly! But this one has set herself apart. She really wants to fly and was trying to escape the box the entire way home. She also pecked my labrador on the nose. She has been named Moxie because she's got a lot of it.

And...chicken math has already struck. She ended up with two bantam cochins by mistake and asked if I wanted them for free. Um YES! I was considering putting silkies on my want list for their broodiness. I remembered reading that cochins are easy to convince to go broody too, so it worked out great.

The box she had for me to take them home in cracked me up. She didn't notice until I pointed it out. LOL

Squeaky, I love Moxie. She is the darker one right? I almost kept her, I agonized over sending that one to the meet... sometimes those darker brown ones get a columbian type pattern with some white through the body, .I am glad you posted the pic, I would love to see how she turns out in a few months if you would share pics! I am so glad she went to a good home :) Would also love to hear what colors of eggs you end up getting, I kept 4 also that look much like your bunch so we have hatchmates...crossing fingers for some nice sized green and blue eggs.

That box cracks me up, good eye lol :lau

She is the dark one, she's the fluffiest too, I think she'll have a beard. Of course I'll keep you updated. When were they hatched?

The skinny mostly orange one is kind of a character too

La Casa, I love the chickies I bought from you at chickenstock they are so adorable, they are loving it in the brooder box. I will post pictures when they get older and get more of their feathers. Are any of them supposed to lay different colored eggs? I can't remember. Squeaky your chickies are so cute, especially little Moxie and I love what the box says.

So glad they are doing well! i was worried about all the traveling and everybody making it home ok. So good to hear! Your frizzle should lay blue or olive, the turkens lay brown or tan (usually big), the Wheaten marans lay dark brown nice glossy type eggs sometimes speckled. Glad you like the babies! I miss them, I am such a chick a holic it is so hard to say goodbye to the little ones lol, it sure helps alot to see them when they grow up and know how they turned out. Knowing how they lay too is fun then it helps me know which places were good sources to get chicks.

Squeaky--the hatch date was Friday 4/26. That darker one was huge when they came, I am hoping that means they came from, and will lay, big eggs :)

Mandi- the turken was hatched with the EE's 4/26, the frizzle around 4/16 and the WMarans 4/18

I don't think the plumage makes a difference on the egg color. I did the same thing. I had one EE chick that was yellow and one that was dark. When they feathered out, they look the same. Both lay the same color egg too.
