Idaho?

This is my first attempt at hatching eggs. Dialing in the temp has been a challenge. Now I'm am going ot have to battle the humidity and get it adjusted. So much science.

We built the framework for a new greenhouse this weekend, After it was put into place my mind starting thinking.....hmmm....I could fit a lot of juvenile chickens in there. LOL

I did manage to get just a few pics too, man I wish I would have gotten more! Too busy gabbing. It was just too fun to meet everybody! Here is what I have, most were down there on the end I was sitting at, so Michelle you are a movie star today :)

Well shoot, one of my EE babies died :( she had been laying down and acting kind of aloof since she came home so it must have been too much stress for her with all that travel

UGH! So sad :( The travel is hard on chicks, with trying to keep the lamp on them and water in them. Hope the rest do ok. It was not Moxie was it?

No, it was the one at the water bottle in that one pic.....

But now I'm having another problem. I just came here to post this

For the love of...Oh why, oh why must I have so many problems? One of the bantam cochins has bloody poo. She had a very pasty butt yesterday so I'm hoping that it's a result of me rubbing and peeling it off a little too hard and not coccidosis like I'm reading on a BYC post in the chick section. They are on medicated starter. There is ACV in their water and I just added a probiotic tablet because there is no feed store around to get cocci meds that I know of. *banging head against wall*

Or perhaps it's a paper cut, she apparently ate a piece of paper bedding (which I JUST put in right before I posted about my dead EE) because there was one in her vent and she was noisy about passing it.

Do I need to separate the cochins in case they're both carrying it, is it too late, or will the other chicks be fine since they are on medicated feed?

Uh oh! If you stop the medicated feed that should clear up. Those EE chicks should have unmedicated feed anyway, they have been vaccinated for marek's and coccidiosis, I have read that medicated feed can counteract the vaccination and make it not as effective. Also have seen lots of posts about bloody poo related to the medicated feed being too strong. Their little gut can't handle it sometimes. I only use medicated feed on home hatched chicks for the first few days, then switch to the unmedicated. I would not worry about it being disease related, it should be feed related, unless there is an internal injury of some sort. My opinion...chime in if anybody has different info, just going on what I have learned on here :)

Pawtrait? The cochins were from you. Care to chime?

And how bad would it be to keep them on the feed until I can actually get to a feed store that doesn't carry medicated feed only? Could I perhaps dilute it with cornmeal and/or some finely crushed alfalfa pellets? Or those exclusively
