Idaho?

Currently available: Two black copper marans pullets, one golden cuckoo marans pullet, one pair of bantam cochin (calico/mille fleur), 8 jumbo brown coturnix quail, snowflake bobwhite quail, muscovy duck hens, blue orpington pullets, and I think there might be some assorted blue egg layers left as well.

Oh man I wish I lived closer! I need some more female quail. Trying to hatch some but it will take so long to get egg layers. And blue eggers, you know my story there LOL I am probably really lucky we are not neighbors. :D

Hi all, I'm new here and I'm in Boise.

We're new to the chicken game. We got 6 hens about 6 months ago but I think there was a miscommunication with the guy we got them from and now we are down to 2 of those 6 (3 died of old age....they were supposed to be young).

Over the last 2.5 months, we have gotten 16 more chicks. 3 RIR, 3 Barred Rock, 1 White Rock, 1 Light Brahma Bantam, 5 Black Copper Marans, and 3 Silver Wyandottes. One of the Silver Wyandottes was killed by a neighbors dog so we now have 15 young chickens. I am pretty sure that 6 out of the 15 are roosters so we will probably be getting rid of 4 roosters. 4 of the Black Copper Marans are roosters and the 2 Silver Wyandottes are roosters.

We also have 2 Turkeys.

It's been fun learning all about raising chickens and I'm excited to learn even more.

If I lived closer, I would be interested in your black copper marans. Dang it.

So I have 4 hens that are laying right now and about a week ago I notice I wasn't getting eggs anymore. My chickens are free range and run around wherever they want. I discovered a stash of eggs under a tree toward the very back of my yard and after I took those away they must have started laying somewhere else cause no more eggs were laid in this spot lol! Anyways I have them locked up with the nesting boxes but this makes me feel bad. I like letting my chickens run loose and wish they would just return to lay their eggs in the nesting boxes. Is there another way I can teach them to lay there without having to lock them up? I always had golf balls in the nesting boxes to encourage them to go in there but that obviously didn't work. I'm open to your ideas on how to get a free range chicken to lay in a nesting box! haha

I have disbursed my flock here in GA and my beastly coop. We are packing and leave on the 16th, so in three weeks we will be in Idaho Falls. I will start over with a new smaller flock. Do I need to know anything special for the winter? I'm new to chickens and haven't had mine through a winter yet, heck I didn't even get to see an egg from mine. ANYHOW....any tips would be helpful.

WELCOME!!! When you're ready for more chickens, there are lots of us who have some to sell you =) I have a few started brown egg-laying pullets and a hen I'm trying to re-home, plus the Crested Cream Legbar trio... I live in Ammon

Is there anyone in the Rexburg/Rigby area with some old stewing hens that you would want to give away?
I have one I would give you,

Tarmac.. they probably need to be locked up for a while and get used to laying in the next boxes again and then try letting them free range.. I let mine out about every other day, so they always lay in the next boxes...

I am in Caldwell

I have a truly handsome 6 month old Bantam Dark Brahma cockerel I need to rehome. Just one too many roos. He is free to someone needing a little strutter to look after the hens. I will get photos later today. We have been calling him Duran. Located in Pocatello.
